Have you seen our Jaguar Cross Country team? Probably not since they’re so fast, they run right past us in a blur! Let’s take a look at their first two meets they’ve had so far. First up, the Bronco Round-up, hosted by Rancho Bernardo at Kit Carson Park. The athletes competed in their shortest race of the season, 2 miles long. On our Boys side, we have an outstanding performance from freshman Dylan Rumble who placed 7th out of 143 in the freshman race with a time of 11:53 (remember this course has many difficult hills)! Our top varsity guy, Luis Gonzalez clocked 11:20 putting him in 30th place out of 111 racers in the varsity race. Congrats guys! For our Lady Jags we have an outstanding performance from Madeline Marron as she placed 6th out of 90 racers in the varsity race and clocking 13:04. A grand total of 37 schools attended the meet with a total of 569 girls and 857 boys in both divisions. The Jags thought this meet was big, but the following Saturday they went to the Sun Devil invite at Morley Field, hosted by Mt. Carmel. Between the 2 divisions, 95 schools attended with an estimated guess of 3,000 athletes competing! There were even some out of state schools there too! On our boys side, again we have an outstanding performance by Dylan Rumble who placed 16th out of 125 freshman boys on a 2.95 mile course. Additionally his time puts him on the top ten times for that course for Valley Center athletes! Congrats Dylan! On the girls side, we have Rachel Favela who placed 14th out of 125 sophomores on a 2.7 mile course (the boys had to run an extra hill). She also made it onto Valley Center’s top ten times for sophomore girls for this course. Also medaling for the sophomore girls, we have Elizabeth Zorrilla who placed 35th. Congrats girls! Our racing Jaguars are just getting started, they’ve been putting in miles since the first day of summer and are ready to be champs!

Good luck Jags at SouthBay Invite this Friday in Sweetwater!
